Founded in 1933 the Gloucestershire Guild of Craftsmen is dedicated to promoting contemporary designer-makers. It developed out of the vibrant Arts and Crafts Movement in the Cotswolds at the turn of the 20th century.
The Guild’s members are all professional makers, dependent on sales for the support of their practices. They are amongst the top craftspeople in the UK working across many disciplines including ceramics, glass, woodwork, textiles and jewellery, creating unique functional and decorative objects.
Applications for membership of the Gloucestershire Guild from professional designer-makers are always encouraged. We welcome both traditional and innovative makers who produce well-made and well-designed work. Selection is by interview; successful applicants will serve as associate members for an initial two-year period. For more information please go to the Join page.
We also have a Friends organisation for individuals who want to support the work of the Guild. Friends pay an annual subscription; in return they receive invitations to special events and occasional discount evenings in The Guild at 51. For more information please go to the Join page.
