As a student in the ceramics department of Belfast College of Art where I trained, I learned to throw mainly functional pots. Over the years I have also worked in high fired porcelain and burnished lustred Raku.

Recently I felt that I needed to change direction and am currently working on a new range of high fired pieces, which are still in the experimental stage. Inspiration comes from exploring memories of the sea, estuaries, coastal landscapes, weathered rocks and timber. Working with a variety of clays and colours I hope to evoke a sense of these places.

I make by throwing, coiling and slab building and fire at 1260c. in an electric kiln.
