Crafts Alive at Rodmarton Manor

About The Event

The five day festival of crafts by members of the Gloucestershire Guild of Craftsmen took place within the historic Arts & Crafts Manor House and gardens at Rodmarton, near Tetbury, Gloucestershire. The theme of the Festival was ‘The Lie of the Land’. There was a rare opportunity to visit the attic bedrooms and two of the open-air bedrooms.

Crafts Alive celebrated our deep-rooted connection with the countryside and heritage craft with a selling exhibition displayed throughout the house and garden. Throughout the grounds there were daily craft demonstrations, Craft Skills Workshops, children's workshops and entertainment, talks, films, theatre performances, “Village Produce Show” with drop in vegetable making, a local Artisan Café, Gourmet Street Food & more. Visitors could stay all day, enjoying the gardens, outdoor sculpture and all events.

We are now planning for the next 'Crafts Alive at Rodmarton Manor'  to take place during September 2023

Day tickets to Crafts Alive were purchased in advance with timed admission slots to the house & exhibition or people could buy a ticket  when they arrived.

Download the brochure to see the range of events and activities that were on offer.

Exhibitors

A major selling exhibition of contemporary craft featuring 50 respected makers from the Gloucestershire Guild of Craftsmen within Rodmarton Manor and the gardens. It included work by internationally acclaimed guest exhibitors.

Timed admissions on the hour helped us to manage numbers within the house and exhibition but did not limit visits inside the house to one hour.

Talks

The talks program engaged with heritage and endangered crafts.  Speakers included:  Matthew Harris, Martin Graebe, Mary Greensted and Alexander Langlands.

Those who attended a talk also needed a timed day ticket to the Manor and exhibition
