Liz Lippiatt has been a valued Member of the Gloucestershire Guild of Craftsmen since 1982. Liz is a renowned designer and printer of cloth for fashion couture and interiors, working from her studio in Stroud. Liz continues the tradition of working with textiles, in the historic textile valleys of Gloucestershire, designing and printing fine cloth – mainly silks, velvets and linen.
Having obtained a First Class degree in Fashion at the Gloucestershire College of Art and Design, Liz opened her own print studio in the Cotswolds when she was 22. She grew up on a farm, and her work has often been inspired by the natural world around her. For 20 years she raised her family while working as a designer-printer with a retail workshop at Brewery Arts, Cirencester.
Liz’s own fashion accessories business sold internationally through many well-known shops and galleries in Europe and around the World. She also worked with couturiers. For a decade she worked with Bruce Oldfield on his couture collections, and was responsible for printing many of his designs for famous clients.
Liz has since developed her creative practice, working on ‘textile-led’ projects in collaboration with Studio Seven, a group of seven textile artists.
Liz continues to design collections for fashion accessories, and also creates cloth for costume and couture. Recent designs have been inspired by Summers spent on a remote family farm in Western Australia.
