Commission for a gown for the Glyndebourne Opera Festival Season
A collaboration between Liz Lippiatt (Cloth Couture) and Kathryn Clarke (Couturier). A theatrical gown for a truly striking patron of the opera, inspired by Queen Marie-Antoinette and the age of romanticism in the glorification of nature creating a light, frivolous style in pastel colours.
The silks are designed with flowing bluebell stems in spring greens hand printed onto pastel dyed silk organza creating an ethereal quality with translucent layering of printed silk over a body of lustrous dupion silk. The gown is cut with a fitted bodice and a layered ruched skirt raised to show the ankle at the front and dipping at the back to sweep the ground with the rustle of silk.
