Fiona Valentine | Furniture Maker
My carvings aim to combine the character of the wood with my own intuitive sensitivity. Timber is sourced locally, often from a known garden, hedgerow or neighbour’s woodpile. Before becoming an apprentice cabinet maker, I gained a degree in zoology at Bristol University. The zoologist is always lurking….as I inlay a moth, carve the wren nesting in the eaves of my workshop, or the bees in my little orchard.
I have built a fine workshop at home relatively recently and my carvings now represent the main body of my work.
