I trained in painting at The Slade School of Fine Art and went on to graduate with a degree in Photographic Studies from the University of Wales. Whilst living in the Middle East and Africa I became inspired by the colour and texture of ethnic fabrics and textiles.
Once back in the UK I developed a keen interest in the technology of wool and the use of natural dyes. I am now a spinner and dyer who lives and works in the Cotswolds. I keep sheep, grow dye plants and use the fleece to produce handmade articles.
My practice is informed by a wide range of skills, from crochet and beaded silk purses to knitted murals and floor length coats. I have also made waistcoats and wall hangings from felt.
