In the Maker's Hands - Emily-Kriste Wilcox

As part of our recent show Crafts Alive - In the Maker’s Hands at Rodmarton Manor we asked makers to share their favourite tools with us.

Ceramicist Emily-Kriste Wilcox, who has a studio in Birmingham, shared a few of her favourites including a dottle sponge.

There are a few tools that make a regular appearance on the studio table during
my making process.

The curved tip of the wooden modelling tool, smooth to the touch and light to
hold, is extremely useful as a fine and delicate extension to the hand.

The dottle sponge – well used by now, is employed for levelling the rim and feet.
