I love the way gold lights up a book, the excitement of using different coloured golds, and creating a unique, decorated, finished binding which is a joy to hold and behold.

I also continue to find making a complete book from a pile of paper or restoring a tired old volume incredibly satisfying.

My bindings have won many awards, especially for gold tooling, which is my particular passion. Commissions include work for the Prince of Wales, presentation bindings for the Sheriff of London and most recently for the Archbishop of Canterbury.

I studied Fine Bookbinding and Restoration at Guildford College, where I won the William Matthews’ Memorial award. My present workshop is between Tewkesbury and Gloucester where I work on commissions, exhibition work, restoration and teach classes.

Exhibitions: Flow Gallery, Stour Gallery, Nature in Art, British Library, John Ryland Library and Bodelian Library.
