Crafts Alive Talks - Focus on The Willy Wonka of Woodwork
The Willie Wonka of Woodwork: Saturday 13 Sept 2.15 - 3.15 pm
We are very fortunate to be able to present a most intriguing, fascinating and clearly entertaining talk by Fred Baier.
Fred descibes his work as 'contemporary, modern, leading edge, sculptural, innovative, collectable, extraordinary, museum quality, art furniture, good investment, structurally inventive, finely proportioned, colourful, fit for purpose.'
We need to know more and Guild member and woodworker Kevin Stamper tells us why this is his must-see talk at Crafts Alive this year.

"Given the opportunity to book speakers for the Crafts Alive talks programme, my first call was to Fred Baier - a colleague and fellow furniture maker who I have admired and been inspired by for decades. I was so excited that he agreed to take part and I can't wait to see his talk.
To call Fred a furniture maker is too limiting. He does make items you can sit on and sit at, but they are so much more than that. His creativity, originality and outrageous use of materials will stun and amaze you and his work fully justifies the whimsical notion that 'form SWALLOWS function'
Fred is not only one of the great craftsmen of our age but also a fabulously entertaining speaker - the great wealth of experiences and stories he has to tell will entertain and enrich you - book a ticket to see him now and don't miss out!"
