The Gloucestershire Guild Young Makers Bursary
As part of its charitable purpose, The Gloucestershire Guild of Craftsmen is pleased to introduce a new bursary for young makers. The bursary has been created to support, encourage and promote emerging talent as applicants develop their professional practice.
Each bursary will run for one year, with selection taking place in the autumn.
Our aim, then as now, is to promote fine craftsmanship and good design.
What the bursary offers
- A financial award of £1,000
- One year’s membership of The Gloucestershire Guild of Craftsmen
- Access to the Guild’s highly regarded shop in Cheltenham
- Promotion through the Guild’s website and social media channels
- Encouragement to take part in Guild exhibitions, with no hanging fees
Eligibility
Applications are welcomed from makers who live or work in Gloucestershire. Applications will also be considered from makers based outside the county who have a meaningful connection with Gloucestershire, or who can explain why they should be considered as an exception.
The bursary is intended for applicants who are at the start of their careers. The usual age limit is 30 years; however, applicants who fall outside this age range may still be considered where they can make a strong case for support.
Closing date and applications:
The closing date is 31st October 2026
