My work grows from a lifelong fascination and admiration for plants, and deep respect for the natural world. Nature is not only my inspiration but has also become my collaborator, providing
both the materials and the opportunities that inform my work.

In my studio I use dyes extracted from plants and contact print with leaves to allow their pigments and chemistry to shape the colour and print. Every textile becomes a unique record of place and time, with subtle variations due to season, weather, harvest, and growing environment. Some colours and prints are modified to enhance or diminish variations, but I love the way that nature will always bring something unexpected. Many dyes and all leaves come from my garden or my local area.

I work mainly with Indian silks to create original scarves and wraps. I also use pre-used wool, linen and cotton for interior pieces, including commissions to create place-specific work.
