My ceramic practice focuses on my love for the slow, tactile process of coiling and hand building. My work includes decorative slip, sgraffito, hand carving, and burnishing. I also use my own stamps and carved rollers to create textures in the clay.
I graduated with a degree from Cardiff Art College in 1990 and have been involved with clay ever since. I worked at Prinknash Pottery for five years, learning production and decoration techniques. I have also enjoyed teaching pottery and worked as a pottery and art technician.
I have run pottery sessions at Headway Gloucestershire for brain injury survivors for over 20 years. I am constantly inspired by the power of clay as therapy and the joy it brings.
I work from my studio at home in Cheltenham. I am interested in ancient making techniques and am influenced by primitive ceramics. Through soft glazes , colours and tactile surfaces , I aim to make work that carries a sense of calm presence, inspired by trees and nature.
