Jessie James - New Work Coming to Crafts Alive
Jessie James is the designer maker at Studio Tuft and makes rugs at her studio in Stonehouse, Gloucestershire.
The theme for Crafts Alive this year is Flowers and the Maker and many of our craftspeople are making work influenced by the gardens and details at Rodmarton Manor.
Jessie’s new wild meadow rug is inspired by flowers painted by Louise Powell on the Spinet by Arnold Dolmetsch. Jessie noticed the delicate purple, yellow and red flowers painted inside the piano and loved the colours together and how delicate they were. They reminded her of a meadow and so she went about making a tufted rug with these flowers in a meadow.

The Red Rugosa rug is inspired by the climbing flowers on the red travel case at Rodmarton Manor. Jessie loved the richness of the red background with the red flowers on and tried to create her own version with a complimentary colour palette suggested by the case.
These tufted rugs are soft and the colours intense, why not come and experience them in person at Crafts Alive from Wednesday 10th – Sunday 14th September 2025. You will find all the information you need for a wonderful day out here.
