Liz Lippiatt - New Work Coming to Crafts Alive
Textile artist Liz Lippiatt is creating beautiful individual pieces for the home and devore velvet scarves influenced by brass sconces at Rodmarton Manor.
As original Arts and Crafts adherents were motivated by a desire to promote good honest craftsmanship in the face of industrialization and mass-produced goods, Liz among many Guild makers believe that there is great value in something made for purpose by the local blacksmith or woodworker.

As a textile designer, Liz has taken her inspiration from the local blacksmith, Frank Baldwin, who made the beautiful brass sconces with a fritillary design in the smithy onsite, at Rodmarton Manor. She is intrigued by the distinctive checkerboard patterns of fritillary, their graceful arched stems and nodding heads resembling snakeheads as they grow in the springtime at Rodmarton.

Liz is making a handprinted linen bedcover with cushions and devore scarves in a soft palette of purple, pinks and pale greens. Liz screen prints and makes soft furnishings and fashion accessories using traditional methods and skills in her studio in Stroud.
