Paul Dance is a new member of the Guild. A creative woodturner based in Wiltshire, his pieces are inspired by the natural beauty of the wood he works with.

Original. Creative. Unique.

How long have you been a maker?

Over ten years.

What is the best part of your process?

Idea to finished product.

What is the hardest part of your process?

Clearing up the blooming sawdust at the end of a constructive day.

Do you have a favourite book about your craft? No

What are you reading?

'Remarkable Trees of the World' by Thomas Pakenham.

What is your favourite film?

'A Matter of life or Death' (1946)

What do you listen to in your studio? 

BBC radio Wiltshire.

What one thing would improve your life as a maker?

Acknowledgement.

What is the best piece of advice you have received?

Just enjoy it!

What is the question you are asked the most?

What finish do you use and why?

Life as a maker can be challenging, what keeps you going?

Knowing that somone has one of my pieces in their home or that they have given one of my pieces as a gift.
