We are delighted to feature ceramics by Emily Dennys in the shop this Summer.
Emily creates handmade porcelain lamps, vases and wall panels inspired by a lifelong fascination with the natural world. Her work captures the delicate beauty of grasses, seed heads, leaves and flowers, using relief casting to preserve their intricate forms.
Drawn to porcelain for its translucent qualities, Emily explores the interplay of light and material. When illuminated, her pieces transform, revealing layered silhouettes reminiscent of lithophanes, where light brings the surface to life. This shift between unlit and lit states creates a quiet sense of warmth and atmosphere.
Her practice is rooted in sensory memory – the dappled shade beneath trees, the warmth of sunlight, and the subtle textures of the landscape. Often paired with reclaimed wooden bases, her lamps contrast organic roughness with refined porcelain, celebrating both fragility and strength.
Through her work, Emily invites a closer appreciation of the overlooked details within nature.
