Our New Guest Maker - Rowena Park
Our new Guest maker in the shop is jeweller Rowena Park from Brighton in Sussex. Rowena works with acrylic and resin to produce vibrant, individual work.

Rowena tells us: 'My work involves combining coloured transparent glazes, with almost pure gold leaf and resins, which I apply to the back of the clear acrylic. The gold leaf gives the vibrancy to the transparent colour, and the clear acrylic enhances the effect as it has the same optical qualities as glass, and bounces light back off this layer. It’s a way of working that I have developed over many years of trial and experiment.'

My designs come from the things I see that really interest me. Some years ago the Towner Art Gallery in Eastbourne, East Sussex, commissioned Lothar Gotz to transform the exterior walls with his mural work. It is really quite fantastic!
I find it inspiring every time I visit and have to take more photos. From these I made exploratory drawings and developed a new range of work - Geo. The colours are joyful, like the original work, and can be played around with in all kinds of combinations. Every time I make another batch, I find a new order of colours that I like more.'
